Last year I interviewed some of the staff who had been Mother of the Bride and Groom. Well our lovely Debbie was Mother of the Bride again last month when her daughter Jade got married.

I was interested to see how being Mother of the Bride this time compared to the first time.

The first thing I asked was if she wanted something completely different this time round? Her answer was “Yes, because this wedding had a very different feel to it. This wedding was black tie compared to her other daughters who was more traditional. Debbie went for a very traditional dress, jacket and hat for the first wedding. The cover photo is the dress Debbie wore. Debbie’s daughter Jade also said she did not want anyone wearing hats to her wedding.

I asked Debbie if it was easier to find your outfit this time round? Debbie replied “No because of the time of year I was looking a lot of it was all spring and summer styles. Then there are not many black tie events whereas now we are coming into party season there are a lot more options.

Did you feel more confident when looking for your outfit second time round? Debbie said “Yes regarding in what suits me best and what I feel happiest in. I knew what colours I wanted and I kept to them. I wore a pale pink to the first wedding and the most recent I wore a pale lilac as that is what suits me.

Lastly I asked Debbie if she had any advice. “Do not compare the weddings. The wedding day should reflect each bride and groom and their own personalities.”
