hello

Mother Of The Bride – Round 2

Last year I interviewed some of the staff who had been Mother of the Bride and Groom. Well our lovely Debbie was Mother of the Bride again last month when her daughter Jade got married.

I was interested to see how being Mother of the Bride this time compared to the first time.

The first thing I asked was if she wanted something completely different this time round? Her answer was “Yes, because this wedding had a very different feel to it. This wedding was black tie compared to her other daughters who was more traditional. Debbie went for a very traditional dress, jacket and hat for the first wedding. The cover photo is the dress Debbie wore. Debbie’s daughter Jade also said she did not want anyone wearing hats to her wedding.

I asked Debbie if it was easier to find your outfit this time round? Debbie replied “No because of the time of year I was looking a lot of it was all spring and summer styles. Then there are not many black tie events whereas now we are coming into party season there are a lot more options.

Did you feel more confident when looking for your outfit second time round? Debbie said “Yes regarding in what suits me best and what I feel happiest in. I knew what colours I wanted and I kept to them. I wore a pale pink to the first wedding and the most recent I wore a pale lilac as that is what suits me.

Lastly I asked Debbie if she had any advice. “Do not compare the weddings. The wedding day should reflect each bride and groom and their own personalities.”

Accessories.

When it comes to finishing off your Mother of the Bride or Groom outfit do not forget to accessories. A pair of earrings might just finish of the look beautifully.

Your accessories will depend on the style of dress you wear. For example if you have a lovely v neckline a necklace would look lovely. However if you have a really high neckline then there wouldn’t be a need for a necklace but you might want some statement earrings because of not being able to wear a necklace.

Again if your dress had long sleeves would you want to wear a bracelet? Or if your dress had pearls on it would you want to wear some diamante earrings? Or maybe pearl ones would look better?

We are not just here to help you find your outfit we are also here to help you style it so if you have any questions on how to style your Mother of the Bride or Groom outfit please do not hesitate to ask.

Today’s Mother Of The Bride.

Nowadays when it comes to what the Mother of the Bride or Groom wears depends a lot on the style of the wedding which tends to be chosen by the bride and groom themselves. If the bride and groom have chosen a beach wedding in the summer then you wouldn’t wear an outfit for a traditional church wedding that is happening in the winter.

Weddings are not as traditional now, you don’t have to get married in a church and then back somewhere for the reception. Weddings have changed and therefore so have what the Mother of the Bride and Groom wears.

Make A List.

One of our top tips for a Mother of the Bride or Groom is to make a list, especially the week of the wedding. Day by day what do you need to do, whether it be a nail appointment, running table decorations to the venue, final dress fitting etc. If you have it all written down in front of you, you can tick it off as you go and make sure you don’t miss a thing.

Velvet.

Now lets discuss different fabrics you can wear to an autumn/winter wedding. For me, the first one has to be velvet and we have some lovely velvet suits available. Our feature image for this blog is a gorgeous Joseph Ribkoff suit. Suits and tailoring is still a massive trend and I think a really modern twist to a wedding outfit.
