hello

Colour!!!

Another theme is having your bridesmaids all in a different shade of one colour or all in different colours. This again can open up colours for your outfit that you wouldn’t have thought of.

When choosing your outfit and what colour you want to go for you want to make sure it compliments the brides colours. If the Bride has chosen pastel colours you might not want to go in with a bright and bold colour because in the photos that could look quite harsh.

But you also need to think about your skin tone and hair colour and what would suit you best. You want to look like you on the wedding day so why not pick a colour you love to wear. This season there are so many colours and patterned dresses with lots of colour you will be spoilt for choice.

Why not book an appointment and come in and see us.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day! The day to celebrate love! Valentines Day is a popular day to get married or even engaged so to anyone reading this that is getting married on Valentines Day or has just got engaged congratulations from us here at Anne Furbank!

When you think of Valentines Day as a theme for a wedding I think of the colours pink or red. This season we have had some beautiful pale pink dresses in, like the John Charles dress that is our feature image for this post. We have also had a lovely red Jane dress come in that is in our window display ready for Valentines Day.

A lot of the dresses this season do have a romantic feel to them, there are lots of fuller lengths, floaty chiffon fabrics, sweatheart necklines etc which just make you want to sway and dance the night away.

Enjoying The Whole Day.

Still on the theme of trends this week, another trend we are seeing in 2023 is that ceremony times are getting earlier. Instead of getting married at 2pm/3pm couples are choosing to get married around 12pm so they can have more time celebrating with family and friends. It is also becoming more common to have events the day before or the day after.

Therefore when finding your outfit it needs to be comfortable, you are going to be it in it all day. Especially your shoes! We stock a few different brands of shoes all tried and tested to make sure they will be comfortable for you throughout the day.

When trying outfits on we ask you to do things to try to help you figure out if the dress is going to be comfy, it might be going for a walk around the shop, posing to take a photo or even having a sit down in your outfit.

Wearing the right underwear can also make a big difference in regards to how comfy you are on the day. We are here to try to help you every step of the way so when it comes to the big day all you have to do is out your outfit on and enjoy the day.

Packing Your Outfit For A Wedding Abroad

This week I have been researching Wedding Trends for 2023 and one trend that is meant to be big for 2023 is getting married abroad. So you find your gorgeous outfit, now how are you going to get it there safely? In todays blog we are going to give you some top tips on packing your outift.

  1. Iron or steam your outfit the night before, this allows the fibers in the fabric to cool and stay in the desired shape.
  2. Do not overpack your suitcase, clothes need room to breath
  3. If your dress is a chiffon or jersey fabric try rolling it instead of folding it when packing.
  4. When a fabric is more structured fold it using tissue paper.

I hope if you are going abroad for a wedding that some of these top tips will help.

We All Come In Different Shapes And Sizes.

This week on our social media we are discussing body shapes. We outlined 5, hourglass, pear, inverted triangle, apple and rectangle. Todays post I will go into a little bit of detail about each. Sometimes it is easier to see things written down so you can refer to them instead of a video.

An hourglass is meant to be the most wanted body shape. It is when your shoulders and chest are the same size as your hips but you go in at the waist. When looking for a dress look for something that emphasizes your tiny waist.

A pear shape is when your hips are bigger than your shoulders and chest, therefore you need to balance out your hips, to do this add detail to the top part of your outfit. Ruffles at the top of the dress is one way you could do this and then have a very simple bottom half.

The inverted triangle is the opposite to the pear. It is when your chest and shoulders are bigger than your hips. So again you need to do the opposite. So instead of ruffles at the top of your dress you would have them at the bottom.

Apple you have beautiful curves  and lovely legs but you just need to highlight your waist giving you more of that hourglass shape. Apple shapes tend to have good legs so show them off.

Lastly rectangle, similar to apple you need to create a waist but also some curves, therefore stay away from anything too straight, go for something nice a flowing.

These however are not strict rules you have to follow, like I said we are all different shapes and sizes and we should embrace that and here at Anne Furbank we want to help you do that and help you find the perfect outfit.

I Am Going To Lose Weight!

Now Christmas and New year are over and we have all eaten our weight in food a lot of people are going to want to lose some weight, but when it comes to choosing your Mother of the Groom or Mother of the Bride outfit it is best to do it when you are at the weight you want to be.

One reason we say this is because you can come and see us and find a dress you love, but buy it in a smaller size, lose some weight but without knowing where exactly you will lose the weight and the dress still not fit, why put that added pressure on yourself?

Or you might come in and again fall in love with a dress, say no to it because you want to lose weight and then once you are the weight you want to be, come back in and the dress has gone.

It is only the start of the new season so you have time. Remember you still want to look and feel like you and we are finding a dress to fit and suit your body, not the other way round.

All Colours Of The Rainbow.

So as I am sat here in the office writing today’s blog, looking out the window at the grey, cold and wet January weather, thinking I cannot wait for warmer days. However the moment you walk onto the occassion wear floor  you cannot help but feel happy and warm and be remembered of the summer. The Spring/Summer season has definitely arrived at Anne Furbank.

The moment you walk up the stairs you are surrounded by so many different colours, from your pastel pinks and lemons to your bright pinks and greens. So many different shades of blue it reminds you of the ocean, all these different colours can just lift your mood and help your mindset.

Lets look at some of the main colours and the meaning behind those colours and why some designers might pick them. Pink as a colour can resemble love and femininity. If you wear blue it shows you are a calming person and loyal. Silver is a balance between black and white and can show sophistication and wealth. Green can mean sincere and genuine.  Yellow can mean joy and happiness. I definitely have have my favourite colours to wear that help me look and feel my best and we cannot wait to hear what your favourite colours are and help you find that perfect outfit.

2022 Wedding’s

Now this year there have been some very famous weddings. From Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz  who married in a very lavish wedding in April. To Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck in Vegas after getting back together . And Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker in Italy.

But one wedding that stood out for us was Coleen Nolan’s son. As you can see from our feature image doesn’t she look amazing. This sapphire colour is very on trend, beautiful and bold and we will still be seeing lots of bold colours next season too.  The fit is just perfect for her, the waist band sitting perfectly on her waist, the length just below her knee and then the dress was just off the shoulder. The make is John Charles which we stock instore and we will be having new season outfits shortly. Another loose women who got married this year was Stacey Solomon to Joe Swash which again took place in the summer with both her mum and Joe’s mum in pale summer colours.

In the shop we have been very busy this year helping Mother’s of the Brides and Grooms find the perfect outfit, we cannot wait to see what next year will bring. This is our last blog until the New Year so for now we would like to say thank you very much for a wonderful year. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

December Anniversaries

For the next couple of blogs we are going to do some reminiscing on past weddings. This week it is celebrities who have gotten married in December. No it’s not in the height of wedding season but all the beautiful lights and Christmas trees you can see why some people choose to marry in December.

Frank Lampard and Christine Bleakley married on the 20th December. Amanda Holden and Chris Hughes on the 10th December, Alex Jones and Charlie Thomson on the 31st December and lastly Chloe Madeley and James Haskell on the 16th December. Looking back at weddings that have happened can be a real inspiration to anyone planning their special day.

Congratulations to anyone else who will be celebrating wedding anniversaries this month.
